In Blogland, readers are always begging for the 'inside story.' Can you shoot us an "in the bus", sideline, pre/post-game anecdote? On gamedays, each player recieves a letter from Coach Mo. Each game the letter has a different theme and words of motivation, like quotes from well-known atheletes or people who have proven a point in history. We always enjoy reading them and it's a great way to help players mentally prepare themselves for the game. Also, we have a special cheer that Coach Mo leads before the start of every game that people get in to and always have fun with.
Other than Coach Mo, who or what motivates this team and how? Our coaches do a great job of motivating us, but I think the players do an awesome job as well. Everyone's been encouraging towards each other and haven't been afraid to push each other. We know we have each other's support and play for the team, which is a great motivator within itself.
Best part of pasta feeds so far?
The desserts are always something to look forward to. So far we've had things like cookie cakes and sundaes that get pretty decorated. And there's a few funny stories that always seem to be brought up, which never gets old.
What's your earliest soccer memory?
When I was first playing soccer you were young enough that you didn't really have any positions. I was always confused at first on where I was suppose to go, so I'd just follow people and run around. One time I got the ball and my coach told me to go to the goal and score, but I started dribbling the wrong way. I just dribbled as fast as I could and didn't hear anyone telling me to turn around, so I dribbled to our goal and shot it. Luckily, i missed. But I was bummed I didn't score at first.
World Cup in Lincoln, Nebraska? (Lincoln Journal Star 4/9/09) Can you see it at Memorial Stadium? Isn't that almost sacrilege for Husker fans? You vote: Yes/No of allowing the biggest sporting event in the world to come to Lincoln and why?
It would be awesome if World Come came to Lincoln! I know a lot of people would be excited about it and come from all over the area to watch. Even people that didn't know soccer that well would enjoy it. It would be a great way to spread soccer throughout town and get more interest in the sport.
The best part of being a senior on this team this year so far ...
I would say the best part of being a senior for me is just being on the team becuase of the team chemistry we have this year. It's been there in the past, but it seems like we're able to play more with each other and enjoy how we play together as a team moreso this year than in previous years. We work hard at practice, but we're also able to have fun at the same time. There's a good balance between our work ethic and being able to enjoy ourselves.
